Authorized Maryland Inspection Station

Moving to Maryland? Your Car Needs a Maryland Inspection

Bringing a car from D.C. or another state? An applicable vehicle generally needs a Maryland safety inspection before it can be titled and registered here. An out-of-state inspection does not take the place of the Maryland safety inspection.

Your inspection steps

  • Book the safety inspection: call or WhatsApp our Brentwood shop to confirm availability and that the inspector is in.
  • Bring the vehicle and your documents. The inspector checks the applicable safety systems and explains the results.
  • After the vehicle passes, complete your title and registration process with the MVA. Check the MVA’s current document requirements for your situation.

What to bring

  • Your current vehicle registration or title.
  • Your keys.
  • Any prior inspection report, if you have one.

Safety inspection, not registration advice

  • We can help with the vehicle inspection. The MVA determines the title and registration requirements and any applicable exceptions. This page is an inspection guide, not legal advice.
  • Maryland safety inspection is separate from VEIP emissions testing.
